(working title)

There was a place.
You may not remember it,
but it remembers you.

An unlabeled hand-painted map on torn, stained parchment: a western sea with serpents, a tower on a cape, a great inland lake, forests, a high mountain range, a small harbor lake in the northeast, and a ruined walled city in the east. A compass rose sits in the lower left.

Nothing here is final. Names, places and the shape of the story are still being found. That is part of the fun.

Fragments are early drafts and may change before the book exists.

Watercolor of an old wooden door standing alone in a field of tall golden grass at dusk, slightly open, warm light and floating lanterns spilling out; faint towers dissolve in the mist far behind.

    What this is

Chronicles of Rillen is a novel being written right now. The title isn't settled; it may become Tales of Rillen, or something else that only arrives at the end.

It is a story about a place that existed for a while and then didn't, and about the people who carried pieces of it with them afterward. Some of it is adventure. Some of it is memory. All of it is still being found.

This site will grow as the book does: more fragments, a fuller map, and, when they are ready, chapters.
